Christmas Presents

It is such a wonderful time of year. I have been rather busy with many projects in the making as presents, and dealing with family life problems etc etc

Today I can share a special gift I made for a beautiful woman, who for many years has assisted one of my daughters with taking charge of her four young children when needed. I knew this woman, loved shabby chic, through her many posts I had seen popping onto my screen in social media.

Firstly I painted the shoe to help as a base for adhering all the lace. Initial layer was an all over lace, Next step became various pieces of different laces that I have collected through second hand stalls, flea markets on travels and cut out pieces and adhered to the shoe. I have used flat back Pearls to cover the eyelets for lacing and also covered the heel in the same flat back Pearls. After I finished layering various laces, I then filled the inside up with stuffing, adhered some felt over the top and added some hat pins as decoration.

I had no idea how this boot would look when finished, I had no plan, I just retrieved the box of laces and let my fingers and glue do the work.

The present has been given, I asked her to open, but what I didn't expect were the tears that flowed. This woman fell in love and was exactly the perfect gift to have given her.

WOW we only have 8 weekends left till Christmas

I think it must be time to start thinking about Christmas. Over the next few weeks, I will share with you some ideas that I have been mulling over about presents.

Being in Australia, means we have a hot Christmas, but we all dream to have a cold one with snow and lots of trimmings. Below I am sharing a layout I have done using Winter Time range from Studio75. This line of papers doesn't need to be used for just winter and I found it very suitable for my layout called 'Christmas in Australia'

I distressed edges, inked, layered, used lots of flowers that were on my desk and the journalling used was A Aussie Christmas Poem that I printed out on Acetate.

Because I had still lots of paper pieces left over, I decided to make some hexagon boxes suitable for male and female to place a gift card inside, instead of the usual envelope under the tree, I wanted something a little bit more exciting. I will also attached the template to this blog

Templates for Hexagon Box are

And the last bits of paper I made a Christmas Card from distressing and inking all the edges, I used glue lines to shape the christmas tree with bits of bling.

Should you required the templates emailed to you in full size, please don't hesitate to contact me info@scrappykapers.com

Stop and Smell the Roses

Today I read an article today from Babbleon about stopping to smell the roses, now this was my incentitive STOP and do something for yourself for just a change. I did just that and went straight to my room and started pulling out papers, more papers and just a few embellishments. My room is now total chaos. My next thought what photos would I use, ok surf facebook, there are always photos from members of my family. Yay, success, now to print off. I setup the printer, to find, it wasn't printing correctly. Yes ink in all cartridges, clean the head and all the nozzles, still not printing properly. There is a lot of cursing. Silly me, I replaced the  cartridges, but forgot to remove the tape from 4 out of the 8. Done, now to scrap.  My chaos became bigger, no table, no desks, floor well, it is full too, so I just pushed some more onto the floor and made room on my table. Hurray, I actually did a layout today. This would be the first layout I have done in 6months, and really enjoyed myself. I used papers from Les Papiers de Pandore called Summer Life. Below is a photo of the layout I did today.

Oh no.................... it's October already

October, a sign our season is moving into Summer, and Christmas is nearly here.

I for one will be so glad to see the end of this year. Some of you will already know this, but this year bought news, none of us were prepared for, my husband was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at an advanced stage. I felt my world came tumbling down and trying to struggle to surface again, it was as if  I was drowning along with my husband. We knew the outcome after treatment would be positive but we had to get through this.. All our plans were put on hold, work commitments changed and I could only manage the online store and the bricks & mortar shop has been closed during this time. My husband has now completed all chemotherapy and radiotherapy, still waiting for that 8 week mark after treatment to see how successful it was. He does feel better but now he has to go through shoulder replacement and rotor cuff repairs, so this will now happen in January just before a holiday.

I haven't scrapped in just so long, but I have been reading lots of blogs and planning lots for 2014.
Barbie, has had a little time with me during all of this, and scrapped to her hearts delight. I will share her layouts below.

First Layout is from UHK Gallery from paper range My Precious

Second Layout is from UHK Gallery paper range Tropical Fruits

There will be lots of new releases arriving shortly from Europe, keep a look out for these. Retired stock in the online store has been reduced dramatically and prices are as seen.

You can find us on Facebook too, click the facebook link. You will find lots of inspiration from our suppliers, quick giveaways and other competitions going regularly.

Angela from Country Bumpkins Clothing in York will be visiting quite a few wheatbealt towns in the coming weeks and will have a stall at the markets in these towns. Angela has been kind enough to take along some of the my shop's products to sell too. You can find Country Bumpkins Clothing online here

Flair Buttons are all the rage now, and I have been designing and making these for awhile, just not selling them in the shop until last month. I can design anything for you, just email your requirements through to me. I have just made some 58mm buttons to be used as titles and these will be uploaded during the next few days. Below you will see just a sample.

MajaDesign was founded in November 2007, and since then has been growing to over 70 retailers in Sweden and over 90 retailers around the world.
marie“In the fall of 2004, a dear friend asked me to join her in a scrapbooking course. From that moment, I became totally amazed and thrilled by all the beautiful papers and decorations in the art of scrapbooking.
After some time as a captivated scrapper, I got curious to create my own patterns. I have always had a fascination for color and form, as well as access to great printing facilities in my family.
Since 2007, I have been blessed to be able to work with my great passion – to design and create coloured coordinated patterned paper.”
I hope you find inspiration and joy in our products as much as I have enjoyed creating them.
Thank you!
